GAY MALE PULP NOVELS : 1950's-70's COVERS

These sordid Gay paperback novels were mostly available at sleazy news stands or under the counter. With the advent of The Valley of the Dolls and airport or beach novels, the pulps of the 60's went mainstream. Today these curiosities are highly collectable for their cover art, and vintage originals are still available in some Sex shops.

You might be interested in my gay pulp-novel site... it focuses on the books themselves, some of which are more complicated and interesting than the fabulously camp covers might suggest: http://120daysofsodomy-vintagegaypulp.blogspot.com/

Trent, there is a lot of homo-erotic content on this site, and some very camp content on my other blogs like

In the left side panel, the art will lead you to my 3 main blogs. At the moment I am finding vintage male beef and classic era moviestars more erotic than todays stars. Hot gay stars right back to silent idol Ramon Novarro through to Guy Madison are fully explored in my blogs. Robbie.

A lot of these gay pulp covers were reproduced as postcards a few years ago, that you can find on the net, or in specialist shops. Finding the original pulp novels is getting more difficult, look in sex shops bargain bins. There are a few books on gay pulp art on Amazon. 'Sin-A-Rama : Sex Sleaze Paperbacks of the Sixties' is a good one, but only a specific chapter on gay titles, but worth having. Other books called 'Strange Sisters' and 'Bad Girls Need Love Too' cover Lesbian and Female pulp cover art. Taschen publishes a lot of books on Gay artists, and is bound to do one eventually. There is a huge book on physique artist George Quaintance that is worth having. Robbie.
