Legendary Hollywood sex siren of the 30's Mae West decided to do a Las Vegas Show for $20,000
a week, that no one would ever forget. As well as her bawdy jokes and singing, Mae had a posse of the
hottest hand picked musclemen in L.A to liven things up.

Mae West knew the men in the audience would be watching her, so she had musclemen in her act for the wives to enjoy....
and a few of the boys too.

Mae West interviewed musclemen for her act in a see through top with rouged nipples. She had always had well built men as her lovers, as well as a few black prize fighters.

Mae West's musclemen fondly remember their time in her show, saying Mae was a helluva woman, and a great lady who
showed a genuine admiration for them.

Mae in her private life was not a party girl, and was a very discreet teetotaler , interested in Spiritualism and the hereafter. She regularly donated large sums to charities and church groups. She had wisely bought up property in Hollywood early in her career, and thus, never really had to work again. Her one vice apart from men, was she loved to attend prize fights. Her home was the Ravenswood Apartments in Hollywood where she often would tell fans to "Come up and see me sometime"

In the 60's Mae West recorded a few albums of pop music that included 'Great Balls of Fire' and 'Day Tripper'.

In 1970 Mae West's comeback movie at 78, after a few decades away from films was the camp classic Myra Breckinridge . Mae played a sex crazed talent scout while Raquel Welch played a transgendered Myra. One of Mae's studs was Tom Selleck. The film is wonderful in its own bad-taste way, showing many clips of old Hollywood legends, and giving Mae the 'you gotta see it to believe it' production number 'You've gotta taste all the fruit'.

Sextette was Mae's last film. She was well into her 80's, and was as usual, surrounded by a bevy of men.

Gorgeous hunk Lex Barker (1919-1973) made 74 movies, 5 of them as Tarzan. He married six times, including marriages to screen goddesses Arlene Dahl and Lana Turner (last photo). He played Anita Ekberg's husband in the famous Fellini cult classic 'La Dolce Vita'. His other films included.... Crossfire, Mr. Blandings Builds his Dreamhouse with Cary Grant, Return of the Badmen, Tarzan and the Slave Girl, Tarzan's Savage Fury, Tarzan and the She-DEvil, The Girl in Black Stockings, The Return of Dr. Mabuse and Woman Times Seven with Shirley MacLaine. Lex died of a heart attack in the street at the age of only 54.

Paris has been one beautiful trip. We stayed in a small apartment in a private Hotel on the 5th floor with its own kitchenette, and windows opening on both sides, in the Marais. Les Progress Bar became our hangout, we often had dinner there, or sat on the street watching Paris go by, like a Fellini movie. Saw amazing old arcades in Galerie Montmartre, went to the Cimetiere des Chiens (cemetery for pets) and said a prayer for our Monty.
Saw the famous graves of Jim Morrison of the Doors, Oscar Wilde, Marcel Proust, Maria Callas, Chopin and Collette at Cimetire Du Lachaise (see photos on my other blog). Saw installation MONUMENTA at the Grand Palaise and also the wonderful dark exhibition of ODILON REDON in the gallery behind it. I have always loved Odilon Redon, and to see his early etchings right through to full color paintings and interior furnishings was amazing.
The Jean Louis Forain Exhibition at the Petit Palaise was beautiful. He was a forerunner to Lautrec.
Staying in the Marais, the 'gay' district, was wonderful. The life in the streets at all hours, on every corner a bar or cafe filled with beautiful Parisians socializing. I can't begin to explain how unique to Paris this is. Block after block of shops and galleries, and on weekends at night, it's just exhilarating to bar-hop, or try to get a good seat in a cafe, to watch the continual parade of life before you.

MONTY & EGYPT: R.I.P My beautiful MONTY April 30 2011

We lost our beautiful fawn pug Monty aged 13 on April 30th, after a long illness. He was the same gorgeous boy he always was, and went out gracefully, without pain. He will be sadly missed by Robbie and Christian, and the love of his life Egypt, our black girl pug. Monty had the most loving caring heart, always happy with his tail wagging when we got home.... always wanting a nurse or a cuddle. Being pugs, they are lap dogs, so both always fought over pride of position in the armchair beside you. I will always remember you my son, my Monty. You are and always will be our angel.

OUR ANNIVERSARY CAKE/ OUR PUGS

Here is an actual photo of our Anniversary cake from last month. And also a photo I took today of our beloved two pugs today, Monty (13) on the left, and Egypt (11) our girl, on the right. Monty we were told just before Christmas has an inoperable tumor, but he is holding on, and not in any pain as yet. He is getting slower every day and his back legs wobble a bit. I wrote a message to a friend Jared (24sall on Youtube) I thought I would share here about Heaven. Of course we will be besides ourselves when we lose Monty, it won't be easy. I have never lost a pet as an adult. But Monty has always been a gift, and a gracious soul. And he knows he is loved.

All we can do is be there for him and try and think in the moment and treasure the time we have left.........
My dog is old, and he is graciously giving us extra time with him to get used to him leaving. But I've told him he will close his eyes and wake up in heaven and I will be there, and so will my other pug Egypt and my bf, and my childhood dog. I really believe that. dogs are like children, they teach us unconditional love. They do not say no to our love, they are true companions...and the most beautiful gift to us.
My Monty is like a son...we talk to each other...we breathe at the same pace..if I do a breathing game..he will do it too...as if he's talking. He is comfortable and good at the moment...but its hard when the decision to let him go is ours. I think he will tell us. I don't want to think about it.
Positive thinking is the best thing you can do. But if the worst happens remember that someone dying is just like going through a door into another room. We still sense their presence. I have been with many friends as they have died...I have sensed the spirit leave the body and I have seen through their eyes the room from above looking down... it is a release...so all you can do is wish them well on their way, and let them know they are much loved. kiss.
