DREAM CARS Group 1
My dream cars include the '63 Corvette Sting Ray, seen here in silver. This was the first American sports car with serious muscle, to finally really compete with European rivals. The most sought after Sting Ray is the coupe model with the split rear windows. The fantastic menacing and glamourous Stutz Blackhawk, a car famously owned by Elvis, and on show in his Graceland museum...in the flesh, its beautiful. Seeing the cars owned by Elvis was a dream come true. Next we have the '61 Thunderbird (here in red) a truly stylish and innovative classic. The '59 Cadilac (in white) I love these as hearses particularly, & will post some of my favorite hearses later...and the ones used to bury Marilyn, Elvis and other great stars. . Next is The rare '48 Tucker..as very few were made in the year of operation. (here in gold). Preston Tucker hired Alex Tremulis to design the Tucker Torpedo. Its safety and aerodynamic design was light years of other cars of the time. It was made so you would survive an impact..with padded dashboard rail and collapsible steering column. The movie 'Tucker: The man & his Dream' (1988) tells how Preston Tucker built the car of the future, only for his dream to be crushed by the big three rival carmakers of the time, out of sheer jealousy and politics. The cars caused a sensation at the time, because they were actually better built and safer than their rivals. For a brief shining moment Tucker couldn't build enough of them. Then it was all over. Now of course the few remaining Tuckers are precious collectibles. Next a car out of the future itself... the stunning '38 Phantom Corsair. This is most fabulous looking car ever don't you think? It looks like a superhero's car of the 30's to me....or something out of the movie 'Things to come'. It actually did feature in a '30's movie as a car of the future. I love the shape of the rear window....the car looks like its moving even when still. A really beautiful car.
